Dear Adam,
I used to be in the Braddock Trail District. What happened?
Sincerely, Confused in Connellsville
Dear CC,
“The Council Strategic Plan Committee under the leadership of Chuck Ferguson has spent several months looking at the program, administration, finance, and membership of the Westmoreland Fayette Council.”
Council decided it would be more beneficial for our council to realign the districts. Initially, there were four options that Council came up with: 1) do nothing, 2) give Braddock Trail to Old Trails, 3) create two super districts, the Westmoreland District and the Fayette District, or 4) equally divide Braddock between the other three districts.
The first option was not feasible, because doing nothing is never feasible. Council simply could not give Braddock to Old Trails, because Old Trails is bigger than the other districts already, and the workload for Kristen would be astronomical. The same applies for option three, two super districts would just be too difficult to manage, even if there were two district executives in charge. There are just too many scouts. The last option was the best, because the split allowed for the districts to become equally divided with Scouters, allowing for everyone to have the same workload.
Now that his district has been phased into the others, what about our District Executive Matt? Is he still with Council? Of course! He is the new financial officer for the Council and is in charge of all those numbers. For more specifics about his new job, you can call him at the office during regular business hours. So far it has been working with great success.
For more details, you should talk to your District Executive (such as Kyle, Tim or Kristen), or give our Scout Executive Martin Barbie a ring. They would be happy to explain it to you and make sure all of your questions are answered!
You can also find the details in the latest edition of Smoke Signals on the Council website. The link has been provided below.
Sincerely, Adam
